Missing You 02:54
Don’t want to die in a burning car dont want to die in a bomb in a bar In the jaws of a shark or on a bench out in the park Dont want to die in a hospital bed dont want to die from a bullet in the head Dont want to die alone and blue don’t want to die from missing you Dont want to get caught by a serial killer, dont want to get eaten up by Godzilla Dont want to get hung on a barbwire fence, don’t want to die in a pestilence Dont want to die in a plummeting plane don’t want to die on a subway train, Don’t want to die alone and blue, don’t want to die from missing you Oo Oo, missin you, I’m missin’ you I’m missin’ you Don’t want to die from lack of water, or because somebody else thinks I oughta Dont want to die in a fit of rage, or on a honky tonk stage Dont want to die before my time & have ‘em all say I was in my prime Dont want to die alone and blue, dont want to die from missing you

Undying Love 03:20
In the Pentland Hills outside of town That’s where my love and I lay down On a bed of leaves with the sky above He promised me undying love But before too long his love began to cool Runnin around town, he played me for a fool Every Jane every June every Judy and Jill Took a ride with him to the Pentland Hills In the Pentland Hills I put him down In a shallow grave he won’t be found On bed of leaves with the stars above Where is it now undying love (refrain) In the pentland hills with the stars above He promised me undying love Well who’s that yonder all covered in dirt Raggedy pants and a bloodstained shirt Heading into town by the light of the moon He won’t lay down, gonna be here soon Banging on my door, stumbling round my deck He wants to get his hands around my neck My screams light up the stars above He promised me undying love

We were just talking about ghosts who are still walking Creeping and stalking ghosts who are still walking Shufflin’ feet pounding their beat a smell sickly sweet, death and wild flowers In the wee small hours Rattlin’ chains rattle my brains inhuman remains Creepin and stalkin ghosts who are still walkin’. We were just talking about ghosts who are still walking Shrieking and squawking ghosts who are still walkin’ Deep in the night a flickering light fills me with fright Anger and shame, it’s a thing with no name Shufflin’ bones beckon me home to a place so well known Where I stand gawkin’ at ghosts who are still walkin’. Oooo, oooo.

about

Down in the Valley is an album of songs dealing with fundamental human concerns - love, hate, sex, death, injustice, survival. The covers on the album are largely traditional songs in a blues or country style, some dating back to the 1800s, or covers penned by Robert Johnson and Woody Guthrie. The originals are stylistically in keeping and are co-written/arranged by all members.
The album was recorded aiming to capture the live sound of the act. Live takes with minimal overdubbing. Thanks to guests Geoff Hassall on drums for six of the tracks and Vivienne McCrory backing vocals track 13. Plenty more original, blues and country/folk material is in the repertoire. Enjoy!
