In the Wind 04:38
I know I know that you don’t want to see me no more I know I know the word is goin’ round for sure In this little town news gets around like an oil slick on a sandy shore I heard it in the wind I even heard it from the man next door I know I know you been sayin certain things about me I know I know how the gossips smile & clap their hands with glee In this little town news gets around around like a fire in a old dead tree I heard it in the wind I even heard it from a honey bee Well I heard it from the baker he was mixin up his dough heard it from a butcher bird who heard it from a crow Everybody seems to know just what you plan to do Why haven’t I heard it from you I know I know that you dont’ want to see me no more I know I know my ears are burning that’s for sure In this little down news gets around, be someone else’s turn before long I heard it in the wind & now you've heard it in this song

Came a lonesome rider, out of the west And the mark of the chosen was tattooed on his chest O Mark Latham within his soul a passion burned And he could not imagine that passion would not be returned Stepped up like a legend, pull the sword out from the stone It only just began to move before his chance was blown Oh mark latham the kingdom slipped out of his hands Started out in Camelot ended up in the desert sands Wrong side of the party, wrong side of the law Wrong side of powerful men wrong side of a locked door Oh mark latham he tried to grab the holy grail But the fates were against him he was bound to fail Was he too wild too frisky, too lucky in love Was he too big for his britches all of the above O mark latham was he unworthy of the crown Or was he hoodooed & voodooed, hog tied backstabbed shot down Well its not far to the border I heard Mark Latham say Gonna pack my suitcase and make my getaway O Mark Latham he made a journal of his woes Is it fact or fiction, I guess we’ll never never know

Mama was a goodtime girl mama was a goodtime girl She’d turn up to a party drippin’ with perfume charm the pants off every single man in the room show off her diamonds and pearls Mama was a goodtime girl Mama was a goodtime girl, mama was a goodtime girl She liked to go out dancing, heaven knows She liked to step out and step on people’s toes She lived her life in a whirl mama was a goodtime girl Ah ah etc. Mama was a goodtime girl mama was a goodtime girl Well she’s down to the club every night of the week Drink four or 5 whiskeys and bring home some freak Round the living room they’d twirl Mama was a goodtime girl I know she loved us but she didn’t understand She thought that to survive and feel real inside She’d need a couple of drinks and a man Mama was a goodtime girl mama was a goodtime girl Sometimes she felt too tired to cook and clean When we wanted her attention she could get real mean scream until it shook our world Mama was a goodtime girl Ah ah etc. Mama was a goodtime girl mama was a goodtime girl We had an uncle Boris and an Uncle Stan Uncle Vince Uncle Kwame and Uncle Tran She spread her love all over the world Mama was a goodtime girl

At the age of 4 the boy next door showed her dirty pictures on the internet to see what he could get At the age of 8 she was stayin up late mum & dad didn’t come home for 3 days straight, tho she wait and wait She’s a naughty little girl, she’s angry at the world At the age of 12 she was helpin herself to the shelves of the supermarket, Katy’s and Target, At the age of 16 on the Smith Street scene lookin pale and lean with a man so mean, he slapped her face to put her in her place CHORUS She’ll spit in your eye she’d rather die than you should see her cry She gets off her face to cut back the pace and get some space from the demons that scream in her dreams You know what they say, naughty little girl At the age of 20 she’s done plenty of crime, done some time 2 kids in care, sees ‘em 4 times a year She’s getting sick of drugs, getting sick of thugs she’d like a regular life, no more trouble and strife wouldn’t that be nice she doesn’t understand why the law of the land won’t take a stand against the kind of creeps who make children lose sleep, mess up their lives At the age of 30 she feels like she’s washed the dirt off her soul, got a new lover who doesn’t try to control her But every now and then she thinks back to when she never had a friend Or a single soul she could have told And all that she could do just to make it thru was to fight with everyone she know And they would turn away she would hear them say every single day Naughty little girl, she must be angry at the world

True Hearts 03:53
Let me tell you all a story of true hearts who knew no fear They were wild and they were reckless with danger ever near Stolen cars and broken windows, assault and robbery When it came to drugs and money they just could not let it be True hearts, better stay home by the fire when the day is done On a dark & rainy evening it was in the winter cold They set out to rob a traveller of his money & his gold But the plan went wrong & ended with a body on the ground As the sirens came a wailin true hearts were leavin town Chorus Well they tore on down the highway, got a 100 miles from town And they vowed to love eachother no matter what went down But before they reached the border stood a roadblock straight ahead With 100 guns awaitin to shoot those lovers dead Chorus To the courthouse they were taken in the courthouse they were tried From the courthouse they were parted wrenched from eachothers side True hearts are true forever true hearts will never fall But it’s a long long wait for true hearts behind the prison wall Chorus

there was a ramblin’ rose all alone on the hillside grew down amongst the rocks and stones she was hidden away from view each night she’d talk to the stars, and in to the heavens she’d gaze and that’s the way it was for a thousand nights and days well a gardener of love came wanderin’ through the land looking for a favourite flower where he could tend his hand to the hillside he chanced to go on a whim he did suppose down amongst the rocks and stones he spied that ramblin’ rose o rose o ramblin’ rose well won’t you come with me for you are the prettiest flower that ever I did see get away get away she cried I cannot go with you with your gardener’s shears so sharp you’ll wound and hurt me too won’t you put aside your fears the gardener did implore and come away with me to my garden’s golden shore there’s soil to feed your soul and to make you thrive and grow and I’ll always cherish you but the rose said I don’t know now the rose was full of doubt and she couldn’t make up her mind ‘cause the gardener looked so fit and his twinkling eyes were kind with that he did reach out plucked the rose out of the ground and her thorns they scratched him deep til the blood came running down well the rose fell in a faint out of shock and pure surprise and she didn’t believe the sight when she opened up her eyes she was in a beautiful bed that felt like a natural home in the arms of the gardener of love, at rest no more to roam

I reached the time of life where I enjoy some peace & quiet I reached the time of life where I enjoy some peace & quiet I've given up cigarette smoking I’m on the liver cleansing diet You know the signs of ageing are a creeping up on me x 2 I got wrinkles I got dimples where there never used to be All my friends have got arthritis, bad backs and dodgy livers too Some are dearly departed from rockin pneumonia & boogie woogie flu I thought I saw the devil out the corner of my eye x 2 Wonder is he come to get me or is he just passing by I reached the time of life to treasure family & friends x 2 And in the arms of my loved ones I hope someday that’s where my journey ends But not, but not too soon

‘Marni Sheehan’s ‘Lonesome Blues’….a perfectly constructed blues piece. Marni can write a great story-song, such as the outlaws on the run tale of ‘True Hearts’. The Irish fiddle and mandolin laced ‘Rambling Rose & the Gardener of Love’ is also a credit to Marni’.
